A Reckless Ride
A Reckless Ride
By: Talya Langer
Watching yourself slip away,
losing your luster.
The sparkle in your eyes,
being buried deep down only to be uncovered in a set amount of time,
is a pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Not even my worst enemy.
You sit there speechless,
You sit there, helpless.
You are no longer in control.
You are no longer the driver of this car, in control of the destination.
You are just a passenger.
You’ve lost your map, so you don’t know the terrain ahead.
You’re stuck on a path, just driving,
moving.
In motion towards something and nothing.
So you sit in silence, a mere shell of your former self,
Strapped in and sitting,
feeling all the bumps and winding turns.
Accepting your fate, whatever that may be.
You are not in control.
You are just along for the ride.
